How Electrolysis Works to Generate (green) Hydrogen

Hydrogen is produced via water electrolysis, which splits water into hydrogen and oxygen using electricity and a catalyst. A hydrogen fuel cell reverses this process by combining hydrogen and oxygen to generate electricity and water. This clean energy cycle only produces hot water as a by‑product. Conventional electrolysers’ electrodes typically use precious and other metals as well as rare earth materials. These are heavy, expensive, supply chain sensitive, costly and corrosive (thus of low durability).
